Ms. Amy trained in L.A with Yvonne Mounsey and Rosemary Valaire at Westside Ballet. She is proud to be a product of their unique combination of Balanchine and Royal Ballet School technique. She also studied with Meredith Baylis, Irina Kosmovska, and Tatiana Riabouchinska (Ballet Russes de Monte Carlo); John Clifford (New York City Ballet); and Stanley Holden (The Royal Ballet). She continued her pre-professional training with Ballet West, Joffrey Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, and with David Howard in NYC.
She performed with Los Angeles Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, and with Jacques d’Amboise in Princeton University’s inaugural season of Atelier. She danced and choreographed for four years with Princeton University’s Expressions Dance and toured with Princeton University’s Triangle Club as a featured dancer. Most recently, she performed character artist roles with The American Youth Ballet.
Ms. Amy began teaching ballet in her teens and continues to study pedagogy with The Royal Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. She is an ABT® Certified Teacher who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
At Institute for Dance, Ms. Amy directs The Movement Ballet, an ensemble that provides pre-professional ballet training and performing opportunities. She coaches dancers attending ballet scholarship competitions, including Youth America Grand Prix and ADC IBC. Her students have been accepted to train at American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Cary Ballet Conservatory, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Joffrey Ballet, Kaatsbaan, Miami City Ballet, The Rock School, and UNCSA.
