Valdie Cooper grew up in St. Croix in United States Virgin Islands. She was introduced to the art of dance at the age of 12 at a small dance studio and fell in love with it. She was also introduced to gymnastics, and used her acrobatic skills in many of her performances. Valdie danced for many years, performing various genres such as ballet, tap, jazz, and African dance. She performed in local productions of Broadway shows such as, “The Wiz” and “A Chorus Line.” During her time in college at Savannah State University in Georgia, Valdie was a member of the Savannah State Dance Ensemble and performed at various HBCUs. Valdie has been a Dance Instructor in Williamsburg, Virginia since 2013 and has recently joined the faculty of the Institute for Dance.
