Ingrid Pettus has had the prestige honor of teaching/mentoring kids from infancy to professionals for more than thirty years and mastered styles such as: Jazz, Modern (Horton, Graham, Dunham), Ballet (French & Cecchetti) and Contemporary. Ingrid Pettus, was born in New York City, New York and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She pioneered two notable schools nationally ranked in the arts: Creative and Performing Arts High School (Philadelphia, PA) and Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA) where she received her B.F.A in Dance Performance & Choreography. In youth, she closely studied under New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Sandman Sims to name a few. Pre-professionally, she performed with and under the same companies and was often televised.
Upon her University career, she worked with Rob Besserer of Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, Tim Callahan, both founding directors of Creach and Koester twice and BeBe Miller. In her most recent years, Ingrid Pettus owned her own dance school, Ingrid’s Dance Theater Inc. (Midlothian, VA), for eighteen years while directing her prominent competing company Interpose. She also was a guest artist on the collegiate level at Louisburg College and Longwood University. Mrs. Pettus has repeatedly been requested numerous times to judge local and national ranked competitions on the dance and pageant levels. Dance Management wise, she sat on the steering committee for the development of the dance curriculum for the Thomas Dale Performing Arts Center (Chesterfield, VA) and has choreographed full length musicals in her community for more than twenty years. Ingrid Pettus has been blessed with her life of the Arts and continues to seek what else is in store.
