Susan Talebi
Susan is a dancer, instructor and choreographer. She grew up in Maryland and took her first ballet class at age five with Miss Katz. At age twelve she returned to dancing and studied at Jane Bittner’s Dance Studio. She participated in an intensive program, studying classical ballet technique, pointe, modern, jazz, character & ballroom. While dancing with Olney Children’s Ballet Theater she was cast as the lead in Cinderella and in the soloist role of The White Dove in Hansel and Gretel. She also performed as a soloist in Pas de Quatre and as Snow Queen, in Spanish Variation and as Lead Flower in Waltz of the Flowers in The Nutcracker. She studied with Dawei Zhang and performed traditional Chinese folk dancing with his company, East West Ballet. She later danced on scholarship with Mercyhurst College in Pennsylvania and performed with The Lake Erie Ballet Theater. In 2002 Susan toured the east coast as female vocalist for a four piece jazz band called “Chillharmonic Orchestra” based out of Norfolk, VA. She then returned to Williamsburg and graduated from The College of William and Mary in 2005. In order to take her teaching to the next level, Susan completed and received a certificate for a Body Based Alignment course at VCU’s Dance Department in 2009. She has also had the honor of performing with Williamsburg Ballet Theater as a soloist in Paquita and in Les Sylphides and is now finishing up WBT’s 2011 season as Co-Artistic Director. Recently, she was accepted into MCI’s competitive program to become a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and feels this will help her to become the best dance instructor she can be!
