Samantha Silva

Samantha (“Miss Sammy”) Silva began her dance training at Chamber Ballet at the age of 5. After studying ballet for a couple of years, she took a break from dance to focus on gymnastics. She was a competitive gymnast until the age of 14 when she returned to her first love at Chamber Ballet. Miss Sammy took ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and kickline classes and performed with the studio until she left for James Madison University in the fall of 2006. During her four years at JMU, Samantha performed on campus and in the community as a member of the hip hop and street teams of Madison Dance Club. She furthered her dance education by taking classes such as History of Dance, Dance Improvisation, and West African Dance as well as frequently attending Salsa Nights at a local dance club. In her senior year, she co-founded Jeté L’Esprit, a dance program for special needs children in the Harrisonburg community. As of May 2011, Samantha is licensed to teach Zumba® Basics Level 1. Miss Sammy is looking forward to sharing her love of dance with the wonderful students at iDance!
