Miss Cathleen, a North Carolina native, found herself in the city of Richmond, Virginia to further her education at Virginia Commonwealth University. Even though she spent the majority of her time in dance class, Cathleen also found time to dabble in psychology, clarifying the love she had for helping others and the human mind. She recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with both a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Choreography and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. During her time at VCU, she had the pleasure of studying and present work under many wonderful professors and guest artists, including Autumn Proctor, Scott Putman, Courtney Harris, Melanie Richards, Dawn Marie Bazemore and Doug Varone (“Democracy” restaged by Julia Burrer.) Upon graduation, Cathleen began dancing with RVA Dance Collective, a company based at Dogtown Dance Theatre, while she also worked at the Theatre as a Patron Services Coordinator then Lead Technical Coordinator for a time. Now, Cathleen is free-lancing in a few different projects based in Richmond as well as teaching Modern at the Institute of Dance (iDance) in Williamsburg. She’s excited for the many artistic experiences and opportunities she’s been blessed with during her time in Richmond, and looks forward to many more before she treks across the country to meet her boyfriend in California, for her next journey.
